RECAP: Mission Beach Town Council Meeting
Last week, the Mission Beach Town Council voted down a resolution that would have severely altered the current ordinance structure. Around 20 minutes were allowed for public comment, and multiple people stood up and objected to this ill-conceived, overreaching proposal. Objections included a lack of clarity regarding the suggested changes. Several homeowners noted that they were operating in good standing and would lose their homes if this resolution were enacted. Rob Brown noted that these changes were brought forward in bad faith by reminding everyone that the Town Board voted on it while numerous board members were absent. The vote was 21-12, as opposed to the resolution!

While Mission Beach saw great support for STRs in the Town Council, PB and OB are still very underrepresented, and we need to change that. This meeting proves that when STR owners unite and mobilize, we can defend our rights to our property, but when we do not engage at the town council level, we already cede the first steps in the legislative process. Please sign up for your local town councils or have your managers/teams do if you have not already.

Pacific Beach Town Council: Membership is only $30. Voting members must reside, operate a business, or own property in PB. Those who do not may join as non-voting members. For more information on how to join, visit the PBTC website.
